Porsche increased sales significantly in the first quarter thanks to high demand. The Stuttgart sports car manufacturer delivered 80,767 vehicles from January to March, an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period last year. The Dax group announced on Monday that there were more than ever before. Despite the uncertain economic situation and the limited availability of parts, sales in all sales regions have increased, explained Sales Manager Detlev von Platen.
The Cayenne and Macan SUV models and the Porsche 911 sports car were in particularly high demand. Porsche sold 30 percent more of the compact SUV Macan, and the Cayenne went up 23 percent. The fully electric Taycan, however, sold a little weaker, with a minus of 3 percent to 9152 cars. The reason is that there are still bottlenecks at suppliers, which particularly affect the electric sports car.
In China, the most important market, Porsche’s sales increase for all models was even 21 percent. “The good start makes us confident for the rest of the year,” says von Platen.
In Europe (without Germany), the company, which is majority owned by the Wolfsburg Volkswagen Group, delivered around 14 percent more vehicles to customers. In Germany, the increase was 19 percent.
