Einride builds network for autonomous e-trucks

Einride is working with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build a freight network with electric autonomous trucks.

The autonomous electric cargo developer Einride is doing everything to become a globally recognized name in the field of zero-emission commercial vehicle technologies. Today the company announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Energy and Infrastructure United Arab Emirates (UAE) was signed to deploy Einride’s portfolio of electric and autonomous freight vehicles over a distance of over 550 kilometers.

This is a milestone for the company, which was founded seven years ago. The company’s previous expansion plans range from its home country of Sweden to Europe and the USA. They rely on remote pod operators and have received certification for autonomous driving.

UAE is known for its use of autonomous vehicle technology. However, these plans do not only involve the use of a few truck, but a whole network, which Einride calls Falcon Rise. A whole ecosystem of electric vehicles, autonomous trucks and charging stations will be created along a 550 km route. That implies 2,000 electric trucks, 200 autonomous trucks and eight charging stations with over 500 charging points. The company plans to install at least 50 chargers at each of its new stations at Falcon Rise in the UAE. Falcon Rise is expected to be developed and implemented over the next five years.
