Motorists using NICE Road will have to shell out more from Saturday with the Nandi Economic Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Limited increasing its toll fee in the range of 10% to 15%, depending upon the vehicle category.
The hike comes at a time when Bengalureans are complaining about slow-moving traffic owing to infrastructure development works currently under way across the city.
On an average, 80,000-90,000 vehicles use NICE Road daily, connecting various points between Tumakuru Road and Hosur Road.
Mayukha Devangi, the associate vice-president (toll collection), NICE Limited, told TOI the last toll revision was in June 2022. “This is a routine revision. Depending upon the vehicle type, the fee has been hiked from 10 to 15% on an average.”
For two-wheeler riders, fee up by 2-5, depending on distance
There are seven sections on the 42-km peripheral ring road (NICE Road) between Hosur Road and Tumakuru Road. Fee for cars using the 8.7-km stretch between Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road has been increased from INR 45 to INR 50. The stretch between Mysuru Road and Magadi Road (9.5km) has been raised from INR 45 to INR 55. Motorists using the 8.1km link road will have to pay INR 60, up from INR 50.
For two-wheeler owners, the fee has been hiked by INR 2 to INR 5, depending on distance. For example, for travel from Hosur Road to Bannerghatta Road, bikers will have to pay an additional INR 5 now, over and above the INR 20 that used to be collected earlier. For buses, the toll fee has been hiked by up to INR 20, while for trucks it has been increased up to INR 15.
