Skoda India has introduced the Kushaq Matte edition, which has been positioned between the Style and Monte Carlo variants in the Kushaq line-up. Customers can book the Skoda Kushaq Matte edition with an option of either the entry-level 1.0-litre petrol engine or the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI unit. The Czech brand has said that it will build only 500 units of this new edition.
Skoda Kushaq Matte edition: positioned below Kushaq Monte Carlo
As part of the Matte edition package, the Skoda Kushaq gets the Carbon Steel exterior paint shade finished in matte, along with gloss black trim on door handles and wing mirrors and chrome bits on the grille and a few other areas.
As far as the pricing goes, the new edition will cost Rs 40,000 more than the standard Kushaq Style variant. Prices for the Kushaq Matte edition start at Rs 16.19 lakh for the 1.0 TSI manual, Rs 17.79 lakh for the 1.0 TSI automatic, Rs 18.19 lakh for the 1.5 TSI manual and Rs 19.39 lakh for the top-spec 1.5 TSI automatic.
Skoda Kushaq Matte edition: rivals in India
With the introduction of the Matte edition, Skoda wants to keep the Kushaq line-up fresh as there is no major update planned for the Kushaq and the Slavia for the time being. With the Kushaq Monte Carlo getting its due success and carving its own niche, Skoda hopes this new edition will follow the Monte Carlo’s steps.
The Kushaq Matte edition will continue to rival SUVs like its platform-sibling Volkswagen Taigun, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos – which has a facelift due soon – the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, as well as the upcoming Honda Elevate.
Skoda India also recently conducted a study that concluded that nine out of 10 Indian car buyers now seek models with a safety rating. Read more on that here.
