Bentley’s first electric vehicle will come with hands-free technology. The electrically powered Gran Turismo from 2025 is presented.
The CEO of Bentley, Adrian Hallmark, confirmed in an interview with the British car magazine AutoCar that the British brand’s first electric vehicle will initially drive partially autonomously on motorways. The fully autonomous driving function may later be supported by software updates via Over the Air added.
Luxury vehicle maker Bentley will adopt SuperVision technology Mobileye to use. The SuperVision system has eleven cameras and will also be used in the next Porsche Macan EV.
Last year, Hallmark revealed that Bentley’s first electric vehicle will have up to 1,400 horsepower and be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in just 1.5 seconds. But that is no longer up-to-date in the age of the electric motor. Officially, customers should feel uncomfortable with so much power in the electric car. But what may not be today may be tomorrow. In the future, Bentley wants to launch an electric car every year.
Also Rolls Royce will launch its first electric vehicle in the fall. Dubbed the Spectre, it’s an electric two-door with a range of 310 miles. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.
