New Delhi: India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki on Monday announced a recall of 87,599 vehicles (S-Presso & Eeco) manufactured between July 5, 2021 and February 15, 2023.
The company in a BSE statement said, “It is suspected that there is a possible defect in a part of the steering tie rod, used in such vehicles, which in a rare case, may break and affect vehicle steerability and handling.”
Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part, free of cost.
The said recall is effective from Monday, July 24, 2023, 06:30 pm onwards, the statement said.
In 2019, Maruti debuted the S-Presso. Last year, a redesigned model with a 1-liter petrol engine and idle-start-stop technology was launched, offering fuel efficiency of up to 25.3 km per liter. Dual airbags, a high-speed alert system, standard reverse parking sensors across all trim levels, and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist in AGS trim levels are just a few of the amenities offered by the vehicle.
A new iteration of the Eeco MPV from Maruti debuted in 2022 for INR 5.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Eeco is offered in 13 variations, including versions for cargo, tours, and ambulances, as well as seating arrangements for five or seven passengers.
