Daimler trucks
The commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck once again booked fewer orders in the second quarter than a year earlier. In the second quarter, the Swabians took orders for 96,936 vehicles, as the Dax group announced on Tuesday in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart. That was a drop of 13 percent compared to the same period last year (111,412).
According to its own statements, like other truck manufacturers, Daimler Truck is currently being selective when accepting orders in view of the full order books; for example, the company does not open the order books for the coming year until late. CEO Martin Daum said in mid-July that demand and with it incoming orders were still strong.
Daimler Truck had already raised its annual outlook in view of a good quarter and also presented key data on profit from day-to-day business. Sales had climbed 15 percent to almost 13.9 billion euros. Adjusted for special effects, earnings before interest and taxes increased by 41 percent to around 1.43 billion euros. The bottom line is that consolidated profit rose from 946 million a year earlier to one billion euros.
