In the wake of the farmers’ protests, production is in decline Volkswagen-Emden plant in East Frisia came to a standstill. “Production is complete today,” said a VW spokeswoman on Monday. The routes to the plant were blocked by the farmers’ protests. It is therefore not possible for employees to come to work.
The production of combustion engine models was affected. The production of the Electric cars is scheduled to start again next week after the Christmas holidays. It is not known exactly how many employees were affected by the outage. Production is scheduled to resume on Tuesday.
There have also been traffic disruptions and restrictions in Emden and Aurich since early Monday morning due to the protests. Traffic was at a standstill in Emden and on Autobahn 31 around the seaport city on Monday morning. The police advised drivers on the X platform (formerly Twitter) to stop driving on the motorway towards Emden.
