German Manager Magazine: Herbert Diess: Ex-VW boss leads the board of directors at The Mobility House003009

The former VW boss Herbert Diess (65) has a new job. He will become Executive Chairman of The Mobility House, the company announced on Tuesday. At the beginning of 2024, Diess will succeed Alexander Landia, who has held the office since 2017. Landia will continue to be a member of the Board of Directors.

Electric batteries as energy storage

The Mobility House (TMH) is a system provider for energy and charging solutions. It is best known for its so-called vehicle-to-grid technologies (V2G). Electric car batteries are used as energy storage to promote the integration of renewable energies and reduce electricity costs and CO₂ emissions.

The company manages more than 1,600 charging stations worldwide via the ChargePilot charging and energy management system. Since 2015, the company has been involved in more than eight international V2G pilot projects. One of the most recent projects aims to enable bi-directional charging at four California school locations. Bidirectional charging mainly refers to the ability that electric cars usually still lack to be able to use the charged electricity in a useful way other than just driving it.

2024 also in Europe

In 2024, The Mobility House wants to work together with Mobilize, a brand of RenaultGroup to launch the first commercial V2G service on the European market. “I am pleased to welcome Herbert Diess, a pioneer and visionary in the field of electromobility, to The Mobility House. We are united by a common vision,” said Thomas Raffeiner, founder and delegate to the board of directors of The Mobility House.
