Mayor Anne Hidalgo (64) has achieved her next transport policy success in Paris. After e-scooters were banned last year, citizens now voted for higher parking fees. Visitors to Paris whose cars weigh more than 1.6 tons (combustion cars) or 2 tons (electric cars) should pay. In the future, those affected will cost 18 euros per hour instead of 6 euros.
54.5 percent of voters voted for it. However, as in the scooter referendum, voter turnout was very, very low at just under six percent. It’s difficult to speak of a majority decision.
