Indonesia’s Blitz Electric Mobility has secured $1.6-million funding in an extension of its seed round, while US-based VAST Data has launched its regional headquarters in Singapore to expand into the Asia Pacific and Japan.
Blitz raises $1.6m in seed extension round
Indonesia-based EV services company Blitz has raised $1.6 million in a seed extension round led by the Asia Development Bank’s ADB Ventures.
In a statement on Tuesday, Blitz said the round also included investors Iterative VC, FiveFortyAlpha, Third Derivative, BonBillo Fund, Bansea, and Satvik Investments.
Blitz added that the round was oversubscribed, though it did not mention the initial target. It said the latest funds will be used to accelerate the firm’s expansion across Indonesia.
Founded in 2019 by ex-Hyperloop engineer Saivya Chauhan, Blitz’s total funds raised to date is $2.6 million.
VAST Data expands APAC footprint
US-based data infrastructure company VAST Data has launched its regional headquarters in Singapore to service the Asia-Pacific and Japan region.
In a statement, the company said this expansion comes four months after it secured $118 million in Series E funding, led by Fidelity Management and Research Company.
The company said its data platform “unifies storage, database, and containerised compute engine services into a single, scalable software platform architected from the ground up to power AI and GPU-accelerated tools in modern data centres and clouds”.
VAST Data was founded in 2016 by CEO Renen Hallak. The company added that at the end of its 2023 financial year, it surpassed $1 billion in cumulative software bookings and achieved 3.3x year-over-year growth.
