German Manager Magazine: Tesla: Cybertruck pedal could be stuck, Elon Musk recalls almost 4,000 electric pickups003266

Tesla is recalling 3,878 vehicles of its Cybertruck model due to accelerator pedal problems. The US vehicle safety authority NHTSA said on Friday that the pedal could come loose and get caught in the interior paneling.

This in turn could cause the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally. Tesla will repair or replace the accelerator pedal. The Cybertruck electric pickup has only been delivered since the end of last year – two years late due to production problems and battery shortages.

Like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall specifically affects all vehicles manufactured between November 13, 2023 and April 4, 2024 – i.e. a majority of cars.

The NHTSA further stated that Tesla had no knowledge of any collisions, injuries or deaths as a result of the technical problems until last Monday.

According to the BizzyCar website, Tesla has already had to recall a total of 2.4 million vehicles in the first quarter of 2024. The problems could usually be resolved with a software update.

Tesla boss Elon Musk (52) himself once explained a few weeks before the launch of the Cybertruck: “We dug our own grave with the Cybertruck.”

In front of analysts, he pointed out the complexity of the vehicle. The vehicle, which looks like a lunar vehicle with its triangular roof, is equipped with “a lot of bells and whistles”. For special products that “only come onto the market sporadically,” it is “incredibly difficult” to produce them in large quantities and be successful.
