The Auto supplier ZF has promised its employees at the company headquarters on Lake Constance secure jobs until June 2028. Until then, dismissals for operational reasons are excluded, as can be seen from an agreement agreed upon by the company and the ZF general works council. As they announced on Tuesday, around 4,900 employees from areas such as research, development and headquarters will benefit from this. The agreement is already valid.
“Securing employment until mid-2028 gives our colleagues security – that was immensely important to us,” said the chairman of the so-called Z works council in Friedrichshafen, Franz-Josef Müller.
Job cuts are still possible, for example through retirement or fluctuation, said a company spokesman. “The option of not filling such positions remains” – up to a lower limit of 4,150 employees in the two areas. Target agreements had already been concluded with the production employees in December, but without any job security. They want to remain in close contact.
Employees of auto suppliers are worried about their jobs due to the transformation to electric mobility. Because many jobs still depend on the combustion engine business model.
In particular, the business relating to electromobility is deep red at ZF, in contrast to the airbag division. But This is exactly what the auto supplier wants to spin off
.
Around 169,000 people work for ZF worldwide. Around 10,300 people are employed on Lake Constance. ZF is represented at more than 160 production locations in 31 countries. The group is majority owned by the Zeppelin Foundation of the city of Friedrichshafen. In 2023 it achieved sales of around 46.6 billion euros.
