NFDA general election survey sees private EV sales boost as big issue for dealers

Consumers want the next government to focus on restimulating the private market for electric vehicles.

That’s the key finding of a General Election survey from the National Franchised Dealers Association.

The survey received 51 responses from various franchised dealership groups across the UK, collectively representing over 300 sites.

“Through NFDA’s General Election survey and manifesto, dealerships have clearly communicated their priorities to the next government.

“Key issues highlighted include addressing the ongoing skills shortage within the sector and restimulating the private electric vehicle market. These are immediate challenges that the incoming government will need to address.

“With the industry demonstrating remarkable resilience over the past few years, NFDA urges the next government to work closely with us and the broader industry to tackle the concerns of dealerships and further unleash the potential of this dynamic sector,” said NFDA CEO Sue Robison.

During the General Election period, NFDA released its manifesto calling ont eh next government to:

  1. Re-stimulate the private electric vehicle market
  2. Overhaul the flawed Apprenticeship Levy
  3. Mandate annual public chargepoint targets
  4. Outline a clear plan for the future of road pricing
  5. Remove unfair regulations for heavier, electric vans
  6. Increase HGV MOT capacity by introducing delegated testing
  7. Bring down business rates
