New cars, SUVs launched in first half of this year

Just over six months into 2024, the automotive industry has witnessed a host of new launches ranging across different segments. Here’s a list of all new cars and SUVs that have been launched in India so far this year.

Disclaimer: Do note that we have only considered all-new cars in this list and not facelifts and other minor updates.

Hyundai Creta N Line

The Creta N Line was launched as a sportier version of the SUV, with a range of visual enhancements such as all-new front and rear bumpers, a new front grille, pronounced side skirts, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. The Creta N Line also gets a retuned suspension setup and reworked steering dynamics for a sportier drive, along with a sportier-sounding exhaust over the standard Creta. Hyundai retails it from Rs 16.82 lakh-20.45 lakh.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor 

Toyota launched the Maruti Fronx-based Urban Cruiser Taisor in India in April this year. Priced between Rs 7.74 lakh-13.04 lakh, the Taisor features subtle styling tweaks over the donor car, but retains the 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.2-litre NA petrol-CNG powertrain options. The Taisor is currently Toyota’s most affordable SUV in India.

Tata Altroz Racer

Tata Motors launched the Altroz Racer as a sportier version of the premium hatchback in June. The Altroz Racer gets a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine making 120hp and 170Nm torque, and goes up against Hyundai i20 N Line. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission only, but an automatic transmission is on cards. It is priced from Rs 9.49 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh.

New-gen Maruti Swift

The fourth-gen Maruti Swift was launched in May at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh. Apart from an evolutionary design, the Swift boasts a range of new features, as well as a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 82hp and 112Nm torque. The Swift will also get a CNG option soon.

Force Gurkha 5-door

Force Motors launched the new Gurkha 5-door along with the updated Gurkha 3-door in May. Priced at Rs 18 lakh, the Gurkha 5-door gets a Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine making 140hp and 320Nm torque, with standard 4WD. It gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, powered ORVMs, a rear camera, and TPMS.

Mahindra Bolero Neo+

The Bolero Neo+ was launched as the three-row, 9-seater version of the sub-compact Bolero Neo SUV. With prices starting from Rs 11.39 lakh, the Bolero Neo+ gets a 120hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine with 6-speed manual gearbox feeding power to the rear wheels.

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance

Mercedes launched the AMG S 63 E Performance as the S-Class range’s flagship variant in India at Rs 3.30 crore in May. With an 802hp, plug-in hybrid 4.0-litre V8 engine under the hood, the new AMG S 63 is the most powerful iteration of the S-Class yet. The German luxury carmaker is also offering a limited-run Edition 1 variant that comes with exclusive exterior, interior updates, and costs Rs 3.80 crore.

Mercedes-Benz EQA

The EQA was launched earlier this month as Mercedes’ most affordable EV in India with prices starting from Rs 66 lakh. It is equipped with a 70.5kWh battery pack that powers a front-mounted electric motor generating 190hp and 385Nm of peak torque. The EQA offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 560km on a single charge, and rivals BMW iX1 and Volvo XC40 Recharge in India.
