German Manager Magazine: BYD: Electric car manufacturer from China expects sales to increase soon in Germany003645

The Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD assumes an increase in sales Germany within six months. In order to convince customers and increase sales figures, the group will need “less than half a year,” said BYD European boss Stella Li in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”.

She did not provide any information about the exact sales target; this was secret. But she thinks that BYD will also be “an important market player here in Europe”.

Regarding pricing, Li said a Electric car BYD will not offer anything for less than 20,000 euros. That is impossible. The company does not yet know where the exact starting price will be in Europe. “We are still working on our plan. The price could be under 30,000 euros, but it will be over 25,000 euros.”

Li criticized them EU import additional tariffs on Chinese electric cars, which could take effect from next month and which Germany has rejected. Consumers in Europe “have to pay a surcharge because of the tariffs,” said Li. However, she doesn’t believe “that the EU will compromise on this.” But BYD is a long-term market participant. “We will start production in our new car factory in Hungary at the end of 2025.”
