German Manager Magazine: Opel: Stellantis Group throttles production in Rüsselsheim 003792

The car manufacturer Opel has reduced production at its main plant in Rüsselsheim. This week, assembly of the compact car Astra and its sister model DS 4 will be completely suspended, a company spokesman said.

That to Stellantis-Group companies are converting the Rüsselsheim plant to single-shift operation in consultation with the works council, which is expected to last until the end of January. To achieve this, work processes would have to be adapted.

The spokesman reports that the employees have been released without any deductions for the current week. This is intended as recognition for the work done. In the week from December 9th, production will run in one-shift operation.
