Called about a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system warning light Tesla almost 700,000 vehicles returned. According to a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday, the recall includes certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles, the 2017 to 2025 Model 3 and the 2020 to 2025 Model Y.
The problem is that the tire pressure monitoring system warning light may not illuminate between driving cycles and may not warn the driver of low tire pressure. Driving with improperly inflated tires can increase the risk of an accident.
The one from Elon Musk led automaker said it will provide a free software update to fix the problem. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on February 15, 2025.
Not Tesla’s first software problem
This is not the first time that Tesla has recalled cars due to faulty software. In July, the automaker recalled more than 1.8 million vehicles because a problem with the hood could increase the risk of accidents. And in February Tesla called in USA nearly 2.2 million vehicles were returned because some warning lights on the instrument panel were too small.
