In order to avoid impending fines, the manufacturers should be able to charge the carbon dioxide emissions of their new cars of the current year with the values of the next two years, as the Commission announced on Tuesday. Anyone who misses the limit values this year could still compensate for this in 2026 and 2027.
EU Commission President Ursula von that Der der Leyen (66) promised when the project announced that this would not mean a step backwards in climate protection. “We have to stick to the agreed goals,” she said.
