The EU and China consider an agreement of minimum prices for in China Electric vehicles. These would apply instead of the compensation duties introduced by the EU last year, a spokesman for the EU Commission explained on Thursday.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the EU Commission stated that the Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao (60) spoke to EU Trading Commissioner Maros Sefcovic (58) on the topic.
According to the “Handelsblatt”, a comparison is planned: China’s leading e-car manufacturers should invest more in Europe and do technology transfer. In return, the EU would introduce a minimum price instead of the compensation tariffs. The advantage for China is that the Chinese car manufacturers would keep the difference between their original dumping price and the agreed minimum price themselves and did not pay tariffs.
