A study examined the willingness to pay and the desired features in the autonomous car.
The Fraunhofer IAO has carried out an investigation in cooperation with the consulting firm Horváth & Partners. It was about the question of how much for what in the Autonomous Auto would spend,
The study, entitled “Enabling the Value of Time,” surveyed some 2,500 car drivers in the car industry’s top five markets China, Germany. France. Japan and the USA.
On average, around half of the respondents expect the technology to be enjoyable. In Germany, the joy is 38 percent. That’s less than in China, France or Japan, but in Germany you spend a lot of money on it. In Germany, 34 percent would pay more than 1,500 euros for autonomous driving. The greatest anticipation prevails in China, where one would spend more.
Japan is also looking forward to it, but here people would least want to spend it. That should lie, so the researchers, at the time in the car. While the average car spends around 70 minutes in the car globally, it is only 44 minutes in Japan.
The Time usage were 46.6 with sleep, 39.8 percent with entertainment, 38.2 percent with food intake, 36.4 percent with job and spend 23.2 percent with fitness or wellness.
Sleeping is especially interesting for longer trips, for professional journeys is the work in the foreground. Another factor is the number of inmates: if you’re not alone, then for 65 percent, entertainment is the most important thing.
