The one in deep red numbers Car supplier ZF will temporarily introduce shorter working hours in the group headquarters at the Friedrichshafen location. From May 15, the weekly working time will be reduced to 32.5 hours and from 1 June to 31.5 hours. This was announced by the group and the works council in their own communications on Wednesday. There are 2800 employees whose salary is reduced accordingly. According to the information, ZF wants to save a double -digit million amount.
The agreement applies until a maximum of March 31, 2026. There is the option to choose a four-day week. It was a special concern of the works council, said Franz-Josef Müller, the chairman of the employee committee of the so-called company affected by the measure, which includes central research and development as well as various divisional development departments. Location manager Arnd Hermann called the measure a solidary solution with which the group could react socially compatible to the tense situation of the group.
ZF, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, had written deep red numbers last year. The loss had been just over a billion euros. In 2023 the company had made a profit of 126 million euros. The group belongs to 93.8 percent of the Zeppelin Foundation, which is led by the Mayor of the City of Friedrichshafen.
