The French automotive group Renault the construction of drones in the Ukraine. The French Ministry of Defense contacted the company with a corresponding proposal, a spokesman told the AFP news agency on Sunday. However, a decision was not made, Renault warte still waiting for “further precisions on the part of the ministry”.
The broadcaster “Franceinfo” had previously reported that Renault Wolle Wolle and a French armaments company built production facilities for drone construction at a low distance to the front line.
A few days ago, France’s Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecornu (38) had announced that “a great French car manufacturer” would come together in a “completely new partnership” with an armaments company to build production roads for drone construction in Ukraine. The drones built there were to be delivered to the Ukrainian army, but also used by the French troops in “tactical exercises”.
Drones have played an important role in Ukrainian defense since the country’s large -scale Russian invasion in 2022. They offer surveillance and attack options that have shaped the battle tactics against Russian armed forces. In its defense against the Russian attack war, Ukraine is strongly based on the use of combat drones. On June 1, Kiev had used more than a hundred drones to attack Russian military aircraft on an airfield deep in the Russian hinterland.
