The IMDA (Independent Motor Dealers Association) is urging all members, and the wider independent dealer network, to review their websites in light of updated government legislation.
There have been updates under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. The updates are enforceable and must be visible on dealer sites.
Umesh Samani, IMDA Chairman, said: “This highights when Government legisation changes how important it is that they reach out to associations like the IMDA so we can share up to date best practices with our members to ensure they are operatig compliantly and following Government guidelines.”
Some of the key requirements include headline pricing, all mandatory fees (Road Fund License, administration fees, delivery charges), must be included in the advertised price.
Websites must clearly state the existence of any right to withdraw or cancel.
Business Transparency is a must – displaying full business details, including trade name if it is different from the business’ registered name, and FCA number and financial disclosure statement if the business offers finance.
