HERE Technologies has announced the integration of DIGIPIN into its location platform, enabling customers and partners to use the digital addressing system across its suite of mapping and location-based services.
DIGIPIN, a standardised digital location identifier, is part of India’s broader Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiative aimed at improving geospatial data accuracy and accessibility. By incorporating DIGIPIN as a map reference, HERE allows users to associate, view, and navigate to locations using this digital identifier within its solutions.
The move aligns with efforts to streamline location referencing across urban and rural areas, particularly where traditional addressing systems may be inconsistent or lacking. HERE’s integration supports several practical applications, including improved location discovery, better accessibility in regions adopting digital identifiers, enhanced navigation accuracy, and more efficient route planning to help reduce travel time and fuel consumption.
This development is expected to contribute to more reliable location-based services for businesses, government agencies, and individual users across India.
Abhijit Sengupta, Head of Business for India and Southeast Asia at HERE Technologies, stated, “Addressing plays a critical role in navigation, logistics, and public service delivery. By supporting DIGIPIN, we aim to contribute to India’s goal of creating a more standardized and accessible digital addressing system through accurate and scalable location technology.”
HERE’s support for DIGIPIN underscores its involvement in India’s geospatial innovation landscape and its focus on delivering location solutions compatible with national digital infrastructure initiatives.
