The Automotive Skills Development Council and VE Commercial Vehicles trained over 300 engineering students through a mobile laboratory program that visited four technical institutes in July.
The initiative brought automotive technology training directly to campuses using a specialized van equipped with diagnostic tools and vehicle components.
Students at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in Patiala, Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology in Kondhwa, MERI College of Engineering and Technology, and ADAMAS University participated in the program. The training combined practical demonstrations with 13 online learning modules available through the ASDC platform.
Participants who completed the program receive certificates issued jointly by ASDC and VE Commercial Vehicles. The program covers advanced automotive systems and diagnostic procedures designed to prepare students for industry requirements.
The mobile training model addresses challenges in connecting academic learning with industry practices in India’s automotive sector.
Traditional engineering curricula often focus on theoretical knowledge, while employers seek candidates with practical experience using current automotive technologies.
ASDC Vice President Vinkesh Gulati stated the program aims to make automotive education more application-oriented, while CEO Arindam Lahiri described the partnership as an example of collaboration between private sector companies and skill development organizations.
