The IMDA has warned dealers to follow its Code of Conduct or risk being banned.
In a LinkedIn post, the IMDA reveals that very rarely it encounters dealers who do not follow the Code.
The post reads: “We’re proud to say that the IMDA represents some of the most professional, respected and like-minded independent dealers in the UK – businesses who want to do the job right, look after their customers, and support one another.
“Very occasionally – and thankfully it is rare – we encounter a dealer who chooses not to follow our Code of Conduct, whether that’s by failing to treat customers fairly or by dealing with fellow members in an unacceptable way. Let’s be clear: this behaviour will not be tolerated. Where necessary, we will remove membership. Sadly, we’ve had to take this step with one or two dealers recently.
“Every member is free to run their business as they see fit – but if you’re part of the IMDA, you must uphold the standards of our Code of Conduct. That’s what sets us apart as an organisation, and why customers and other dealers trust the IMDA name.”
Following a ban, dealers will no longer be able to use of the IMDA logo – across websites, marketing and any other material.
