Dealer Auction’s EV Performance Review revealed a steady performance for AFVs in August.
The Volvo XC40 hybrid sold in 27 days on average – making it the quickest mover that’s appeared in the profit top 10 this year and attracting an average margin of £3,245, securing third in the chart for profit.
Dealer Auction’s marketplace director, Kieran TeeBoon, said: “‘Value’ isn’t just about profit – it’s essential for dealers to have a healthy stock mix of ‘quick wins’ and opportunities for higher profit. In the case of the XC40, it’s the best of both worlds!
Topping the profit chart for the third month in a row was the Volvo XC90 hybrid (£4,695).
The top 10 was dominated by hybrid models, pushing the Tesla 3 and Nissan LEAF EVs out of the chart.
Toyota models continued to move well, with five hybrid models among the top sellers of August: the Yaris, C-HR, Auris, Corolla and RAV4.
Looking at CAP Clean performance, the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid topped the chart, with 102.7%, followed by the Lexus NX hybrid (102.6%) and Volvo XC90 hybrid (101.3%).
The average sold price held steady at £14,186, while the average age of vehicles remained at 4.5 years. There was a small rise in average mileage (rising 3.7% to 45,347 miles) and a dip in the average margin but overall metrics are positive.
TeeBoon said: “The summer saw some big developments for the AFV industry – the SMMT announced that the used car market bounced back to pre-pandemic levels in first half of 2025 and one in 10 cars sold in Q2 was electrified.
“What’s more, in the new-car market, the first eligible EV grant models have just been named. How will this filter down in the used market as we move into autumn? The data will tell you everything you need to know.”
