Ten days after an accident in Aerodrome area claimed two lives and led to removal of several traffic police officers, the traffic department has released WhatsApp helpline number to enable citizens to report traffic-related issues.
The helpline, launched four days ago, has already received 107 complaints out of which 93 have been resolved. “Indore traffic police have launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline number – 7049107620 – for citizens to report traffic-related issues,” Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said.
“Through this helpline, citizens can report rash or negligent driving and other traffic violations by sending photos or videos along with the location. Issues such as illegal or temporary encroachments and unnecessary parking can also be reported. While violations like triple riding and rash driving require time to identify, the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) is used to track offenders, notify officials, and issue online challans,” DCP Anand Kaladgi said.
He added the traffic police were in the process of developing a mobile app to provide real-time traffic updates and to report violations.
