The car manufacturer Stellantis has appointed Joao Laranjo (47) as the new head of finance with immediate effect. He follows Doug Ostermann (57), who had resigned for personal reasons, the group shared with brands like Opel,, Bangot, Fiat or Chrysler on Monday.

The Brazilian Laranjo is a long -time companion of the new CEO Antonio Filosa (52) and has been working for the previous group since 2009 Fiat Chrysler. After a short change to tire manufacturer Goodyear in 2024, he returned to Stellantis in February and recently took over the finances of the important North America business. Filosa rose to the top of the group in June and should now bring Stellantis back on track, especially in the USA.

Loss of billions in the first half of the year

Stellantis reported a loss of billions for the first half of 2025 in July and referred to US customs policy, among other things. In addition, many manufacturers of the troubled industry are out with growing competition China confronted.

The reason is decorative strips on the windows that could come loose and become a danger to other road users, said the US transport security authority NHTSA on Saturday. According to the NHTSA, Stellantis had already called back 164,000 vehicles in the United States at the beginning of the month due to similar problems with loosening cladding on the doors.
