Citroën Aircross Achieves 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

Citroën India announced that its Aircross SUV has received a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection from Bharat NCAP, the country’s vehicle safety assessment program. The model also earned 4 stars for child occupant protection.

The Aircross recorded 27.05 points out of a maximum 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 40 out of 49 points in child occupant protection (COP). The rating was based on tests conducted on the Aircross 5S variant.

Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director of Automotive Brands at Stellantis India, said the rating demonstrates the company’s focus on safety as part of its Citroën 2.0 strategy. The initiative emphasizes combining design with safety features and comfort in vehicles developed for Indian market conditions.

The Aircross comes standard with over 40 active and passive safety features across all variants. These include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill-hold assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and three-point seat belts for all seats.

The vehicle’s structure incorporates high-strength steel, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) to manage front and side impacts while reducing cabin intrusion during collisions.

Comfort and convenience features include LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control air conditioning, power-folding outside rear-view mirrors, soft-touch instrument panel, rear AC vents, and door-mounted power window switches.

Two engine options are available: a 1.2-liter Gen 3 PureTech 110 turbocharged engine and a PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine, producing up to 110 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 6-speed automatic. Seating configurations are offered in 5-seater and 5+2 arrangements.

Citroën indicated it plans to launch the Aircross X variant in the near future as part of its continued product development in India.

The company operates in 101 countries with 6,200 sales and service locations worldwide.
