Escorts Kubota Limited announced its sales figures for September 2025, showing a significant surge in tractor sales while its construction equipment division faced headwinds.
The company’s Agri Machinery Business Division sold 18,267 tractors in September 2025, marking a 47.6% increase compared to 12,380 tractors sold in the same month last year. The company described this as its highest-ever monthly sales performance.
Domestic tractor sales reached 17,803 units, up 48.5% year-over-year from 11,985 units in September 2024. Export sales totaled 464 tractors, representing a 17.5% increase from 395 units in the previous year.
The company attributed the strong performance to favorable rural conditions, above-normal and well-distributed monsoon rainfall, improved water reservoir levels, and an early festive season. A recent GST rate reduction on tractors and farm machinery also contributed to positive market sentiment.
For the April-September period, total tractor sales stood at 64,458 units, up 14.4% from 56,365 units in the same period of the previous financial year.
In contrast, the Construction Equipment Business Division sold 413 machines in September 2025, down 19% from 510 machines in September 2024. For the six-month period ending September, construction equipment sales declined 20.7% to 2,201 units from 2,776 units.
The company cited monsoon disruptions, project delays, and rising costs as challenges facing the construction equipment industry. However, it noted early signs of recovery with the onset of the festive season and expressed optimism about a rebound in the second half of the fiscal year, supported by government infrastructure initiatives.
