Recently, classic automakers have screwed up the announced numbers of planned plug-in and battery electric car models. The consulting firm AlixPartners has aggregated the announcements of the world’s largest automakers by 2022 – and shows who ignites the largest electric model fireworks in the next four years.
Toyota: For the period from 2018 to 2022, Toyota has announced the launch of just 3 new models with plug-in hybrid or battery electric drive, according to AlixPartners’ current Auto Electrification Index. Although sold Toyota also plug-in hybrid versions of the Prius (pictured), but for the next four years, Toyota apparently relies on its supremacy in full hybrids. From 2023, however, the Japanese want to bring a more powerful solid-state battery to market maturity and then increasingly offer pure battery models.
