Average amount dealers pay to Auto Trader per month rises 5% to £2,994

Auto Trader turned in a strong performance in the half year to September 30 with pre-tax profits up 6% to £199.3m on turnover ahead 5% to £317.7m.

The number of dealers on its books rose 1% to 14,080 and the average amount they paid the group per month rose 5% to £2,994.

As part of its annual pricing and product event it launched Co-Driver, its generative AI product which helps retailers create vehicle listings faster with an improved experience for car buyers.

It said most buyers continue to come directly to Autotrader, but for the 18% that find the group through organic search it believes AI tools will become an alternative interface.

It continues to grow Deal Builder and over the past six months, it has grown retailers by 2,000, with over 4,000 live with the product.

Nathan Coe, chief executive officer of Autotrader, said: “In 2025, we continued our decade-long journey of creating AI-powered products that improve the buying and selling experience on Autotrader and help drive improved performance, efficiency and time-saving for our customers.

“This year, over 10,000 of our customers have used our Co-Driver product to deliver over 1 million improved vehicle adverts, enhancing the buying journey.

“By combining this technology with our proprietary data, alongside scaling our Deal Builder product, we’re improving car buying and selling across the UK.”
