Motherson Completes Acquisition of Remaining Stake in South African Subsidiary

Samvardhana Motherson International Limited has completed the acquisition of the remaining 10 percent stake in Motherson Lumen Systems South Africa Pty Ltd, the company announced in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.

The acquisition was completed through Motherson Lumen Holding Ltd, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited. Following the completion of conditions precedent, Motherson Lumen SA has now become an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of the parent company.

Motherson Lumen Systems South Africa operates as a design, manufacturing, and sales facility located in Pinetown, situated at 32 Monte Carlo Road, Mahogany Ridge, Westmead. The company was established in 2013 and operates from a 3,500 square meter facility.

The South African entity specializes in manufacturing wiring harnesses, vehicle lighting systems, plastic components, and body electronics. These products serve both local and international markets. The facility employs over 100 personnel across various departments including manufacturing, warehousing, quality control, material control, engineering, management, and sales functions.

The operation maintains relationships with validated suppliers from local and international sources, enabling the facility to manage diverse customer requirements. Products manufactured at the South African location can be shipped to customers globally from the point of manufacture.

Motherson Lumen Systems South Africa functions as part of the broader Motherson Lumen network, which includes operations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Poland, and the United States. The parent organization, Motherson Lumen, focuses on designing and manufacturing automotive products intended to enhance driving safety and comfort. The company was originally founded in 1984 as Lumen by Keith Evans in Australia before its integration into the Motherson Group in 2024.
