Mahindra SUV sales climb 23% to 50,946 units in December 2025

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Thursday reported a 25 per cent year-on-year growth in overall automobile sales in December 2025, with total volumes, including exports, reaching 86,090 vehicles, driven by strong demand for utility vehicles and light commercial vehicles.

In the utility vehicle (UV) segment, the company sold 50,946 units in the domestic market during the month, registering a 23 per cent increase over the year-ago period. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles stood at 24,786 units, up 34 per cent, led by light commercial vehicles below 3.5 tonnes.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, said calendar year 2025 concluded on a positive note for the company, with Mahindra recording its highest-ever volumes in both the SUV and LCV (<3.5T) segments. He added that December SUV sales of 50,946 units and LCV sales of 24,786 units reflected sustained customer demand across categories.

Commercial vehicle sales
In the trucks and buses segment (CV >3.5 tonnes), Mahindra reported sales of 2,260 units in December 2025, a 43 per cent year-on-year increase. The trucks and buses business includes Mahindra Trucks & Buses Division and SML Mahindra Limited.

Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman, SML Mahindra and President – Aerospace, Defence, Trucks, Buses and Construction Equipment at M&M, said the commercial vehicle industry continued to see momentum across segments in December, supported by favourable policy changes and improving demand conditions. He added that early signs of an industry upcycle point towards further acceleration in the fourth quarter.
