NFDA urges dealers to lobby MPs on FCA Redress scheme

The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) is urging dealers to campaign on the key issues impacting business, including the ZEV Mandate, taxation EV transition and the FCA Redress scheme.

“Last year NFDA hosted a number of visits for MPs, held at dealerships around the country. As we move forward into the new year, NFDA urges dealers to participate with our programme and engage in conversation with policymakers to discuss pertinent automotive issues,” said NFDA CEO Sue Robinson.

NFDA is encouraging automotive retailers to take an active role in shaping policy in 2026 by engaging directly with politicians through its Parliamentary Engagement Programme.

Robinson said dealers were concerned around the pace of targets in the ZEV Mandate and also the recent announcement of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Pay Per Mile Tax in the Autumn Budget.

There were also fears over the FCA Redress Scheme and how it will impact on dealers in the year ahead.

Robinson added: “Last year was a positive one for our engagement, with meetings held at dealerships with MPs, such as Alex Norris MP, alongside Mark Raban, CEO of Group 1 Automotive UK.

“Often MPs may not fully understand the gravity of situations in our sector. Only upon speaking to the chief executives and those who work at the dealership can they come to understand.

“Therefore, it is vital that dealers get involved alongside the NFDA to raise awareness of policy issues that need to be addressed. Our sector employs 600,000 people across the UK and must be treated with due attention.

“This month we will be continuing to engage with MPs and members of the House of Lords at our parliamentary dinner.”
