Exactly a year after it was officially launched on January 27, 2025, and a little over 13 months after start of production on December 13, 2024 at the Skoda Auto plant in Chakan, Pune, the 50,000th Skoda Kylaq compact SUV rolled out from the production line on January 27, 2026.
Having manufactured 47,022 Kylaqs between January and December 2025, this would mean the milestone 50,000th Kylaq would be Unit No. 2,978 manufactured between January 1-27. In CY2025, Skoda Auto India’s plant manufactured a total of 73,696 vehicles including the Kylaq compact SUV, Slavia sedan, Kushaq and Kodiaq midsize SUVs. Of this total 12-month production, the Kylaq (47,022 units) accounted for the largest share – 64% – in tandem with its sales in the domestic market. Skoda India has also exported 74 units in the past 12 months.
Kylaq SoP was December 13, 2024. With 47,022 units in CY2025, the Kylaq accounted for 64% of the 73,696 Skoda vehicles manufactured, the same as its sales: 46,872 units of Skoda India’s 72,666 PVs.
KYLAQ AMONG TOP 20 BEST-SELLING UVs IN ITS FIRST YEAR
As per SIAM wholesales numbers, the Kylaq has sold a total of 46,872 units in CY2025, which leaves it just 3,128 units shy of the 50,000 sales milestone. Having averaged monthly sales of 3,603 units in November-December 2025, the Kylaq will surely surpass 50,000 sales this month (January 2026).
The Kylaq, which marked Skoda Auto India’s entry into the ultra-competitive compact SUV segment, has been a game-changer. In CY2025, the Kylaq with 46,872 units helped Skoda India’s passenger vehicle sales jump 107% YoY to 72,666 units (CY2024: 35,164 units) and Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Group’s 36% YoY growth.
In CY2025, which saw record sales of 2.95 million utility vehicles, the Top 30 UVs accounted for 2.82 million units (95% share). What is notable is that the Skoda Kylaq entered this list in its first year, at No. 20, ahead of compact SUV rivals like the Toyota Taisor (36,268 units, ranked No. 24) and Kia Syros (26,058 units, ranked No. 29).
Speaking at the 50,000th Kylaq production milestone celebration event on January 27, 2026, H D Kumaraswamy, Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel, said: “I congratulate Skoda Auto Volkswagen India on achieving this production milestone and for their continued commitment to the ‘Made in India’ initiative.”

To accommodate the Kylaq, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has increased production capacity by 30% at the Chakan plant, while simultaneously strengthening engagement with domestic suppliers to achieve higher levels of localisation.
