The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has launched a survey to gather critical insight into how training and development investment is evolving across the UK automotive sector.
It wants to capture the voice of employers directly and use their feedback to shape future skills-based training and recognition programmes as well as identify areas where funding support from government is required.
“Building and retaining a skilled, competent workforce remains a top priority for automotive businesses as they continue to navigate a significant skills gap whilst facing rapid technological change,” said Emma Carrigy, head of research, careers and Inclusion at the IMI.
“By understanding where businesses plan to invest in skills development and which capabilities matter most to their operations, we can develop the right tools to support employers as they seek to retain talent in an increasingly competitive market.”
The IMI survey is open to employers across the entire automotive sector, including independent garages, franchised dealer groups, specialist businesses, and fleet operators. Individuals responsible for training and development as well as workforce planning are encouraged to participate.
The insights gathered will directly inform the IMI’s programme development, ensuring the organisation continues to meet the evolving needs of the sector.
