Diesel fraud at Daimler? The public prosecutor’s office Stuttgart has started investigations against Daimler coworkers, on suspicion on fraud in connection with exhaust gas manipulations with diesel vehicles. “We investigate against known and unknown employees of Daimler AG on suspicion of fraud and criminal prosecution,” said a spokesman for the authority. He did not want to say how many employees it was.

On request, Daimler informed that they were in contact with the Stuttgart Public Prosecutor’s Office and other authorities. But one has no knowledge of interviews with employees by the public prosecutor’s office Stuttgart, so a spokeswoman.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Motor Transport Authority) did not find any violation of applicable legislation during its measurements last April. Also in 2016, the US Department of Justice asked Daimler to initiate an internal investigation into the exhaust emissions certification process in the US. For details about the ongoing investigations, the Group did not comment.

In the wake of the exhaust gas scandal at Volkswagen, not only the Wolfsburg-based company itself, but also the supplier Bosch was targeted by the prosecutor. Also in other countries the suspicion on manipulations called authorities on the plan. In France, for example, investigations are underway against Renault and Fiat.
