The German Daimler has led the round of financing of 175 million dollars (150.7 million euros) that has closed the Estonian company, an operation that has raised the valuation of the company to more than one billion dollars.
The Asian Didi Chuxing, who reached an agreement to enter the capital of Taxify in August 2017, the venture capital firm Korelya Capital (Jobteaser) and the co-founder of Transferwise, Taavet Hinrikous, have also attended the group’s financing round . According to the Financial Times, Daimler has contributed almost 60% of the funds raised, nearly one hundred million dollars.
The German group will also promote the services of the Estonian company through its Moovelel app to increase the start-up customer base. Taxify, for its part, will use these funds to accelerate its growth strategy in Central and Eastern Europe, and in Africa.
Taxify, founded in 2013, landed in Portugal last January. A few months earlier, the platform had started operating in Vienna, Paris and Sydney.
