D In the future, the commercial vehicle group in the Volkswagen Group wants to operate under the name Traton Group instead of “Volkswagen Truck & Bus”. The new name is an important milestone on the way to a leading global market position, said CEO Andreas Renschler on Wednesday.
Under the roof of the Traton Group, the brands MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Caminhoes e Onibus from Brazil and the mobility brand RIO, however, continue to exist. The word Traton stands for tradition, transport and the transformation of the industry, the second syllable is borrowed from the word tonnage, the word for cargo loading capacity.
The name change is to be completed in the third quarter. “This will strengthen our truck business on the way to capital market capability,” said Hans Dieter Pötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen and VW Truck & Bus.
