SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) — Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s top automaker, said Monday its June sales jumped 15.4 percent from a year earlier on recovering overseas demand for its vehicles.
Hyundai Motor sold 414,222 vehicles in June, up from 359,022 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
“The monthly results were helped by increased shipments of the Kona subcompact SUV to overseas markets, recovering sales in China and robust sales in emerging economies, such as Brazil and Russia,” the statement said.
Domestic sales fell 3.8 percent to 59,494 units last month from 61,837 a year ago. But overseas sales climbed 19.4 percent to 354,728 from 297,185 during the same period, it said.
In the January-June period, sales gained 4.6 percent to 2.24 million units from 2.14 million units a year earlier, the statement said.
