The automaker Daimler has for several diesel models determined a delivery stop. “According to an initial assessment, the number of affected vehicles in Germany is a few hundred vehicles,” said a Daimler spokesman. According to information from the Funke Media Group, vehicles of the A, B and C class are affected by four-cylinder engines produced until the end of May.
According to the Funke Media Group, on Friday afternoon, Daimler sent a message to all Mercedes-Benz dealers ordering the stop: “We prohibit you from registering or distributing the affected vehicles until a corrective action is available in the service facilities and at the dealership Vehicles is implemented. ”
Reason for the stop is according to Daimler the announced recall for vehicles containing a diesel engine in accordance with standard 6b. The car maker wants to first update the software before the vehicles go to the customers.
Daimler has to recall 774,000 vehicles across Europe, including 238,000 in Germany, on charges of improper exhaust technology. Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) and CEO Dieter Zetsche had agreed to it just under two weeks ago. Zetsche said back then, they would “immediately” take care of the software of the affected vehicles. An exact date from when the updates are available is not known.
Specifically, the delivery stop concerns a C-Class model incorporating a 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel. Also affected is an engine called OM651. It is installed in the models CLA, GLA, GLE and the A- and B-Class. It is also about a six-cylinder diesel, which in the SUVs the G-Class is stuck. “We will inform our customers immediately,” said the Daimler spokesman.
