The company Xilinx based in San Jose in the US state California has specialized in the development of artificial intelligence and now helps carmaker Mercedes-Benz to transfer these developments to the car. The company expects full autonomy to be achieved in five years. The FPGA approach makes it possible to adapt the sensor technology, which is becoming increasingly complex and better, faster. The next generation of cameras allows the processing of data with eight megapixels. This would reach Level 3 (partial autonomy). With the inclusion of additional sensors, such as radar, one also reaches higher levels of vehicle automation.
