Volkswagen Financial Services is now running a pilot car rental scheme with a handful of UK dealerships being used as collection and drop off points.
Progress ŠKODA in Northampton, is one of the first UK retailers to offer Volkswagen Financial Services UK, Rent-a-Car service.
Other dealers listed on the VFS rental website are Citygate Volkswagen, Breeze Volkswagen Poole, Inchcape Volkswagen Exeter and DM Skoda Leeds.
The service enables customers to select, book and pay for their car online ahead of collection at the showrooms.
The service is also available in Germany and Spain. A successful UK pilot will see more Volkswagen Group retailers come on board later this year.
Mark Forton, director of Mobility Services at Volkswagen Financial Services UK said: “As we see customers moving from ownership to usership we are very excited to launch our first rental offering to the UK market, through our sister company, Volkswagen Group’s retailer network.”
VFS said that research revealed that a significant number of short term car rental customers disliked collection locations, hidden and unclear costs such as damage, fuel and mileage charges, plus high-pressured upselling at vehicle collection. The new service intends to address these concerns.
