Baden-Württemberg’s green-black state government wants to file a claim for damages against VW by the end of the year. This reports the “Südwest Presse” (Saturday), citing coalition circles. The Ministry of Finance confirmed this in principle. To this end, the Land Budget Code.

According to the report, Grün-Schwarz considers the company “intentionally immoral injury” in connection with manipulated engine control software. The planned action relates to all of the country – for example for the police – bought and leased diesel vehicles of VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat with the engine type EA 189. All ministries were asked to investigate the number of vehicles involved in their subordinate authorities. The evaluation is still running, only then can the amount of a possible compensation be calculated concretely.

According to the paper, chances of success in court are considered high in the government. So far, VW has always held the legal opinion that the cars are approved, technically safe and ready to drive. The country had offered VW after information from the “Südwest Presse” initially an out-of-court settlement. The group had let the deadline pass.
