Repsol gives the starting signal to a new era in Spain of the ultrarapid plugs. The oil company has installed what is already the first ultrafast recharging point in the country. The first gas station that will enjoy this new facility is located in the Alava town of Lopidana.
The new recharging point that will be inaugurated next Monday at a ceremony attended by the group’s CEO, Josu Jon Imaz, will have a power hitherto unprecedented in the country of 350 kilowatts, which will allow recharging electric cars in 6 minutes.
To carry out the project, Repsol has a network of approximately 1,700 recharge points, most of which are private, in alliance with the Ibil group. Only 200 are plugs in public areas and 31 of them are in service stations of the Repsol group network.
On the other hand, large utilities have announced plans for the next few years that contemplate the installation of thousands of new fast recharging points throughout the country. In most cases they are plugs located in urban areas (shopping centers, offices, homes ….) And not on the road. However, the big oil companies will be able to use the capillarity of their network of service stations to take the recharging points also to the highways and locations in other types of roads.
