MADRID, May 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The average offer price of the second-hand vehicle is 14,940 euros, which is 1% more than last year, according to the data of the motor portal Coches.net.

So far this year, sales of used vehicles have increased by 6.2%, to a total of 850,405 units, compared to 800,215 the previous year. This trend continued in April, with 188,889 second-hand cars sold, 6% more than in April 2018.

By models, Seat Ibiza, Renault Mégane and Volkswagen Golf are still the favorite options when buying this type of vehicle, while diesel also dominates (68.8% of the total) compared to gasoline (29.5%) and hybrid or electric models (1.6%).

However, in 2018 diesel fuel came to represent 71% compared to 27.7% of gasoline, while hybrid or electric models remained at 1% last year. The decline in diesel is highlighted in Madrid, a city in which the supply of diesel remained at 66.3% compared to 73% a year ago.

Due to the age of the vehicles, the age group with the most supply remains that of a vehicle between one and three years old, and taking it up to five years, this range represents 51% of the total supply of used vehicles.

In sales data by age brackets, the best sellers are those of ten years or more, although sales of young vehicles (one to five years) have increased compared to last year, more than 2% between those from one to three years, and almost 1.5% between those of three and five years old. In fact, sales of young used vehicles in April this year have accounted for 33.1% of the total, while last year accounted for 30%.

HALL OF THE OCCASION VEHICLE

These data are known days before the next edition of the Used Vehicle Show takes place at the Ifema fairgrounds in Madrid, which last year brought together 421,496 people.

For the head of institutional relations at Coches.net, Marcel Blanes, the Used Vehicle Show “is always a good opportunity to get to know the market closely and close a good purchase operation”.

“If we compare 2019 with last year, we see that sales have grown, which means that there is still demand for used cars, especially young vehicles,” he says.
