EV charger manufacturer Tritium will supply IONITY, a joint venture of several automakers that’s building a fast charging network in Europe, with Veefil-PK 350 kW DC high-power chargers (HPC) for 120 sites in 23 European countries. Four to 6 chargers will be installed per site. The deal follows a similar agreement for 100 charging sites last July.
Tritium’s HPCs can deliver 350 kW of power, feature a proprietary liquid-cooled technology, and are designed to be compact – up to 75% smaller than competing units, according to the company.
IONITY is a joint venture of BMW, Daimler, Ford, and Volkswagen. The rollout of the next series of chargers is slated for completion in 2020.
“IONITY has a vision for electric vehicle charging which mirrors our own,” said David Finne, CEO and cofounder of Tritium. “It’s not just about the speed of the charge but the experience for customers. These chargers will soon be ubiquitous along the highways of Europe and ensure that the increasing number of EV owners across the continent will be able to drive whenever and wherever they want.”
